Lake Tahoe Wedding Feathered Heart
This whole-cloth quilt was made for my son and his bride and given to
them in
celebration of their wedding, which took place in Lake Tahoe,
California in February.  A sleigh ride was planned as part of the
wedding and this quilt was designed as a throw for the bride and
groom to use in the sleigh.

The center medallion contains a sleigh ride scene with the lovers in
the sleigh and a split-rail fence, trees, mountains, lake, house and
sunset in the background.  Pastel threads are utilized, with metallic
silver thread tastefully sprinkled throughout to highlight the snow.
Hearts are quilted around the lovers and snow angels are quilted into
the snow.  The horse, sleigh and lovers are trapunto to make them
stand out.

Around the center medallion are trapunto feathers quilted in metallic
gold and surrounded by heavy linear quilting to make them stand out.
Using this same technique, the wedding date has been embroidered
top center and the names of the bride and groom are embroidered
inside a feathered heart at bottom center.  To add to the elegance of
this quilt, pearls that had belonged to the groom's grandmother are
attached around the border of the center medallion.

The final lush touch is the backing of creamy white faux mink and the
muff sewn into the back.  A label embroidered in gold metallic was
sewn into the back as well.  This quilt was machine quilted on creamy
white satin and machine embroidered.  Although it utilizes the
whole-cloth technique used by the French and the Italians in the 15th
century, the overall application is a
HTH Celebration Quilts original
design.  Size is 60 X 45 inches.
