This quilt was commissioned as a high school graduation gift from grandparents to their grandson. In the lower border are two logos from his high school with "Class of 2009" embroidered between. The main focus is the University of South Carolina Gamecock, which was used with the school's permission. The young man's grandparents wanted this quilt to celebrate his plans to attend USC after graduation from high school.
The Fighting Gamecock is highlighted in metallic embroidery threads and is outline quilted. The quilt is personalized with the graduate's name and birth date.
One of the beautiful features of this quilt are the various quilting motifs used in the borders and background areas. See the back and detail of the quilting below.
This quilt was machine pieced, embroidered and quilted on cotton batting. It measures 52" x 53".
Response from the grandparents: "Thanks for your patience and expertise; it is a beautiful quilt. It took us forever to make up our mind about things but you came through in time."
