This quilt was made especially for a precious Mema to celebrate her
90th birthday. At her party, family and friends each wrote a birthday
message on a square and those were incorporated into this variation
of a 9-patch pattern on point. Hearts were then appliquéd around the
outside of the quilt, one for each family member who has passed away.
Top center is a larger appliquéd heart surrounded by embroidered
lace. Mema's name and birth date are embroidered on that heart.
The colors of the quilt were selected to coordinate with Mema's decor.
Some of the fabrics used had once belonged to Mema's dearly
departed daughter. The ribbons that wind around the outside of this
quilt are actually two fabrics sewn together (brown and coral). They
add an elegant and feminine touch to an otherwise fairly
straightforward design.
Quilt is 88" X 104" (queen size). It is machine pieced, embroidered,
appliquéd and quilted. See more details below:
