Me and My Shadow
This mourning quilt was made to commemorate the life of a dear
family pet of many years. The pet's owner had saved the scarves,
ribbons and bows from each trip to the groomer and requested that 2
quilts be made from them, one for her husband and one for her
mother. This one was given to her husband as a Christmas gift.
It is made from fabric scraps cut from the scarves and arranged in a
patchwork pattern to form a heart in the center including the pet's
picture. One of the scarves on which the groomer had put the pet's
name was inserted intact in the top inner border and Heart to Heart
Celebration Quilts wrote the first part of the quilt name on another intact
scarf, inserted just to the left . A removable bow and the dates of birth
and death of the pet were placed on the picture.
The border print, furnished by HTH Celebration Quilts is a doggie's paw
print. The middle border is a traditional saw tooth design which used
up almost every scrap that was left of the scarves! This quilt is
machine pieced, appliquéd and quilted.
Pictures below show back of quilt and a close up of picture treatment.
