A Hand Appliquéd and Hand Quilted Heirloom
Heart to Heart
Celebration Quilts
Classic Adaptation
This quilt was 6 years in the making. It features beautiful hand quilting
and hand appliqué. Claudia combined the classic Whig Rose appliqué
pattern with the pieced broken star to create this striking medallion quilt.
The quilt was named "Plan B" because the appliquéd outside border
was originally made to go on another quilt, English Garden Trellis. After
several weeks of work on the border alone, Claudia reluctantly
discovered that the red in the border was not the red in English Garden.
UGH! So English Garden Trellis got another border (you can see it
here), and Claudia began work on another quilt to fit within this border.
After much drafting, math, piecing, appliquéing and quilting, VOILÀ!
Plan B was born.
The elegant hand quilting includes feathered wreaths and classic scroll
designs, as well as outline quilting around all the vines and flowers.
This quilt measures 92" X 76"
